Adrian's visual language was shaped early by a darkroom in Glasgow, a medium format camera, and a childhood spent learning to read light. That foundation deepened through a decade working as a digital operator alongside some of the most visually influential photographers of their generation, among them Nadav Kander, Juergen Teller, Nick Knight, Solve Sundsbo, and Miles Aldridge. His sensibilities and intuitive approach to the filmmaking process have been shaped by those experiences, absorbing a rigorous, craft-led understanding of image-making.
Rooted in photography, fine art, architecture and design, Adrian brings a multidisciplinary eye to moving image, drawn equally to the architecture of a frame and the emotion within it. His photographic work has been exhibited independently, including a solo exhibition of landscape photography and painting shown at the Royal Glasgow Institute. Central to Adrian's approach is a deep reading of the script, pushing beyond the page to find the root emotion and lived experience of each character, and from there building an authentic visual language that serves the story. An avid student of cinema across all eras, he is known for producing beautifully lit, compositionally rich images that move with purpose.
An award-winning cinematographer, Adrian has shot three feature films and over twenty shorts across a wide range of genres, with work screened at national and international film festivals. Recent projects include Guardians of Loch Ness, a fantasy action feature shot on location in the Scottish Highlands, and Deserters, a multi-award-winning short set during World War One. His work extends across commercials, documentaries, music videos, and fashion films, a versatility that allows him to move fluidly between worlds while maintaining a consistent and distinctive visual voice.
